FOX RANCH IN SCOTLAND- Tho June issue of the Black Fox Magazine says: It begins to look as if Scotland would before long be come qutite a silver fox ranching country. Last season we published an account of a ranch starting there, and we are lately in receipt of advices to the effect that two fairly large sized ranches will be started this season. Mr. Arthur E. Jarvrls came from Scotland liast fall and visited P. E. lslaud, where he became acquainted with Mr. J. Calheck and purchased quite a num ber of pairs of fine quality stocks Mr. Jarvis has now-returned to Scotland where he will at once be- gin the building of a large fox ranch, and when finished, will send for the foxes he pu. based while on P. E. island. Mr. C. M. Daniisls. of Sslrbatis, informs us that he has ‘sold to Capt. H. 0. Burnaby of Al- ness, Scotland, fifteen pair of high Iquullty, prize winning foxes, to be ishiipped this fall. Capt. Barnaby is, fucw building a suitable ranch uuui’ er Ben Wyor's Mountain in Scot- hand. lt is safe to predict that when these two ranches are in full oper- _ation, others wiill be attracted. and as Scotland is most cllma-tioally all lupted for fur farming. we may ex- ‘pect in a very few years to see |quite a number of fur farms locat- ,ed there. -----<o->———— PERSONALS tr Mr. George Bryon-ton, Spring ‘Valley was in the city yesterday. "The athle- tic heart," like tbevstralned heart, is a myth; and the tobacco smok- er may go blazing ahead with the full knowledge that tobacco has nothing to do with heart disease. Dr. Parkinson states emphatzc- ally that the evidence of tobacco causing permanent disease of the heart is very small indeed. It is easy to show that the only report- ed cases were due to something el- se. Smoking has a slight. effect in increasing the heart rate and rais- ing the blood pressure, bilt this oc- curs durlug actual smoking and for sometime afterwards. There is: no good evidence that it causssl permanent injury to the heart. | The main cause of heart disease» according to this eminent British authority, is rheumatic fever; and such complaints as palpitution, diz- ,ziness and fainting weakness need not necessarily give an impres- sion ‘that heart disease is present. i i i l STOCK QUOTATIONS I Jilly 9.—Qu0lotlons furnished by Wnrd t’; Johnston, Members Montreal Stock Exchange. ‘Bell Telephone -_ _ _ 130%] Brampton ________ __ _ 30 St. Lawrence Flour - _ Ottawa Power ____. _ ._ Cubs Cane ugar l’|'d __ _ 61% Cuba Cana Sugar Plfd _____ __ 61¢ IPan American Petroleum _ American Can. .-.____. _._ Brazilian Fraction _ Howard Smith Pfd _ 51% 114% 50% Howard Smith Com, 40 lSpnnlsh River Pid/ _ _ Spanish River ‘Cont. _._. ___ 104% Steel Company of Canada _. 7214 British Empire Steel 1st Pfd iPenmans _________ __ Abitibi _-_. Stomach Troubles Are Due To Acidity Tcils Safe, Certain, Speedy Relief For Acid indigestion. 1 filo-called stomach troubles, such ls indigestion, gal, lourneaa, atom- ach-ache and inability to retain food are in probably nine cases out. of ten simply evidence that excessive secretion of‘ scld is taking place in the stomach, causing the formation of gas and acid indigestion. Gas distenda the stomach and causes that. full. oppressive, burn- ing feeling sometimes known as heartburn, while the Acid irritates and lnrismes the dellca u lining oi‘ the stomach. The trouble lies en- tirely in the excess development or secretion of acid. To stop or prevent this soaring of the food contents of the stomach and to neutralise the acid and make it bland and harmless a teaspoon- and affective corrector of acid stom- ach, should be taken in a quarter or a glass of hot or cold water alter eating or when ever gas, sourness or acidity In felt.
