     Commandant of the National 
     
     Defence College of Canada in

     Major General Johnson is 
     
     member of Generals for Peace 
     
     and Disarmament. This 
     
     international organization is 
     
     comprised of a number of 
     
     retired Generals from various 
     
     western countries, including 
     
     Germany, Norway, Portugal, 
     
     Great Britain, Greece, Italy, 
     
     France, and Canada. In both 
     
     1984 and 1985, they met in 
     
     Vienna with their counterparts 
     
     from Warsaw Pact countries to 
     
     seek constructive new ways to 
     
     bring about disarmament and a 
     
     lasting peace.
