S. -—ILLUSTRATED LECTURE l Those who attended Rev. J. C. St. Clair Jeans’ illustrated lecture on “Merrie England" on Thursday evening in the Presbyterian Hall, experienced a rare treat. The beau- tlful scenes depicted on the screen were very enchanting. England is particularly noted for its lovely wild flowers and pastoral scenes. The lecturer started with Dover, that lovely garrison city on the south coast, with its ancient castle and keep. Skirting London they jour- neyed up the Thames. Many lovely villas and Zardens are to be seen from this famous river. Hampton Court palace with its lovely ter- races and beautiful gardens, where grows the oldest and largest grape vine in England; also the Botanical gardens at Kew were among the show places flashed on the screen.
