Johnston, Montague and Samuel Warren Hood, Charlottetown each of whom has passed the Certi- fied Clerk course given by the Maritime College of Pharmacy, Halifax. Greece (Reulersl Opposition parties Sunday denounced Premier Constantine Karamanlis for his “conciliatory” rejection of British constitutional changes in Cyprus. Members of the Greek parlia- ment claimed the Cyprus union- with-Greece cause had been “be- trayed" by the government. A vi- olent debate was expected this week when the government‘s Cy- prus policy is aired in parlia- ment. - The newspaper of the Commu- n.ist-backed EDA par-ty—Greece’s second lar-gest-charged the pre- mier “had abandoned Cyprus to the British.” Other parties joined in saying the Karamanlis party should re- sign. The Liberal newspaper Ele- ftheria even called for a Greek government u n d e r Archbishop Makarios, exiled Greek Orthodox leader on Cyprus. Makarios also has rejected the plan. The minority Turks demand the island's partition into Greek and Turkish zones. Cyprus Governor Sir Hugh Foot told Makarios—now in Athens- in a letter made public Sunday that a peaceful settlement of the island's problems will be found only if the Greeks and Turks ac- cept “some a-bridgement" of past demands. Foot also told Makarios if the violence which has rocked the island ceased, emergency clamps on civil rights would be progres- sively lifted. This process would include a return to Cyprus “of yourself and others at present ex- cluded from Cyprus,” he said. Mavk-arios was exiled two years ago for alleged complicity in Cyprus terrorism.
