Suggestions. Use strong headlines. Make your advertising short. Be truthful ; above all, be truthful. Good advertising will sell goods. Don’t have a dirty store—brighten it. Say what you have to say—then stop. Don’t advertise fire sales—they are old. Don’t advertise your neighbor—it costs money. Say what you mean and mean what vou say. Be sure you are right—-then you will be right. Have good salespeople to wait on your customers. Fill orders promptly—mail-order houses take notice. Place your advertising in the hands of a competent man. Don’t advertise that you give some- thing for nothing—that’s a lie. Always aim for the superlative de- gree—the comparitive degree is good enough for the other fellow. One impudent or incompetent sales- person can do more harm in a day than advertising can do good in a month.—The Advertiser. The Hardest Thing. write a plain, common-sense every-day talk. Belknap. The Sunshine of Business. There is some cause for the skepti- cism of the semi-occasional advertiser as to the good result of advertising. He has spent money for the tion of business announcements, has had at the most merely a spurt o appreciable returns therefrom, after which his trade again stagnated. For this reason he is prone to jump at the conclusion that advertising does not make business grow. Naturally in his case it does not. If the sun should shine only about six times a year Na- ture’s great scheme of development would be checked. KIDNEY Dr. Chase’s Kidney-Liver Pills. Did it ever occur to you that most railroad men die of kidney disease ? Such is the fact, however, and the disease is known among railroadersas ‘‘railroad kidney.” The first and most marked symptom isa weak, lame and aching back. You may think at first that you are only tired; but as this trouble in- creases day by day, kidney disease, with all its terrors, is fast claiming you as a victim. Mr. Geo. Cummings, for over 20 years en- ineer on the Grand Trunk running between oronto and Allandale, says: ‘‘ The constant duty with my work gave me excessive pains in my back, racking my kidneys. I tried several remedies until I was recommended by my fire- man, Mr. Dave Conley, to try Dr. Chase’s Kidney-Liver Pilis.
