train was driven right through n box
car _which was used as an office by
the tiinekeeper and at the time oc-
cupied hy him, whose name appears
to be Regina1d‘Milford Roberts.
'I`he above tells the story of how a
young life was snuffed out at 9 o'
clock on Wednesday night, when the
whole tnwii was startled by a terrif
ic rrnsu. A large crowd soon gather-
ed at thc scene of the accident, and
it was some time before anyone renl~
ized that there was a. human being
buried in the debris. A colored man
with the work train, however, was
hiisy trying to locate the tiiiiekeeper,
and not being able to find him a-
round the town concluded he must
have been in his car. The search then
atnrted in earnest and in a few min-
utes the dead body of the unfortun-
ate man was found in'a lying posi-
tion. lt is supposed that after coin-
'plcting his reports for the day's
work he lay down on a bed which
was in the car. The body was soon
reiiiovrd, and thc three town doctors
on the scene, but nothing could he
done, life being extinct. The body
was removed to l)avy's Undertaking
Parlor awaiting iiistructions for hur-
