Board to move. VVe were at that
time found to have no fire alarm ser-
vice, a limited and insuilicient quant-
ity of hose and our ire e`ngine out of
repair. The City Council wok action,
ordered the purchaseof hose. the re-
pair of the engine, and also, the ro-
plir of the iirc alarm. That was
weeks ago, and apparently nothing
has been done toward getting the en-
gine into condition. Do our civic
rulers think they have done their
whole duty when they have passed a

theposition of Medical Superintendent
d the Lunatic Hospital which is to
take etfcct on 15th February next.
We have no doubt that Dr. Blanch-
ard has better qualifications, and far
more knowledge and experience in
treating mental diseases than any
other physician on the Island.
This opinion is conirmed  the
strong endorsement given him by Dr.
Taylor in his evidence before the
Asylum Commission. Dr. Blanchard’s
successor. it is said will be Dr.
r Victor L. Goodwill, a young graduate
of Qu# en’s College, who, assuming his
general education to he of the best,
