good government and decorous parliam-
entary proceedings ' cannot fail to be
shocked at the doings in the Prince Ed-
ward Island Legislature. From the be-~
ginning of the session until the daybe-
fore yesterday the seenes that have taken
place almost daily are such as to bringrlis-
credit on legislative institutions. At the
beginning it was found necessary to expel
from the legislative chamber a man who
had resigned his seat but still persisted
in demanding that he had a right to
take part in the proceedings of
the House. Serious eharges are made
againstamember who has changed his
party allegiance, and he is accused of
eeing as had as Judas Iscariot, and of
oeing guilty of villainous treachery. Ac-
cording to one eloquent speaker, the
Dreyfus case is not equal to the Island
episode. A few days ago the desk of a
member Wag broken open in his ab-
sence, and each side accuses the other of
havingdone this in order to secure par-
ty advantage. The Island government
has onlya mojority of one in the Legis-
ature, but theyure pushing through the
business of the session as well as they
can under the circumstances. The whole
t situation, however, is unpleasant to con--
template even at this distance, aad it
mustbe very unsatisfactory to the 'pec-
- ple of Prince Edward Island.

Christianity and our civilization, that in

no slave can breathe, and a flag under

has placed under their unnatural control,
