The management' are to bc congratulated on the success of their llrst gymnastic exhibition. ' The following is the Provincial Enain- eer’s report of visit to site of proposed Bridge across Grand River, Lot 55 King’s County: y This bridge would start at Campbellfs wharfdon the south side and terminate at Popular Point Wharf on the north side. I could not make an accurate survey of the distance across because the ice must* be formed to work from. The distance from wharf to wharf is about ten chains or 660 feet, as near as I could judge from sightand judgement. The depth cf vt ati r ,will average 26 feet at ordinary tide and the structure must be 30 feet high. The bottom is very soft,my soundinglead sink- ing in the mud 14 inches (2 pound weight). The approach es must be extended to con flue the water course of 160 feet, which I consider sufficient to carry the inlet and outlet of water passing through. This space should be spanned with a. steel spa.n.` The rests of the steel span must be creo- _sote piles and concrete or stone abut- ments. There must be a draw i on this bridge as vessels of a small draught must pass through to load produce at Bridge- town. Cannot estimate cost of approaches not having an accurate survey. In building the bridge from wharf to wharf would angle the stream -too much; and if ever there is a. bridge erected on this site it should start in a line from Popular Wharf to point on south side and follow a road to present road leading to Chappell Wharf. _ Respectfully submitted by _ H.
