NEW ‘IARGYLE SCHOOL.-Thex semi-annual examination of New Ar- gyle School was held Monday, Dec. 22nd. The school-room was tastefully decorated for the occasion. There were seventeen vlsitorspresent, and a goodly number of pupils, and all looked bright and happy as thougl. they enjoyed going to school, Th( examination was conducted by Mr. Lauchlin MacKinnon, teacher - of Long -Creek School. Mr. Harry Mac- Ncvin and the teacher Miss Addie MacNeviu and various others. The pupils acquitted themselves most creditably in the different subjects taught, showing careful and thorough training. At the close of the exer- cises two prizes were awarded by the teacher for attendance, first prize going to John Gillis, second to John MacKinnon, then a choice program If readings and recitatious was nicely rendered by the pupils; and thorough- ly enjoyed by all present, after which all were treated to confectionery and fruit. Very complimentary speeches were then made by the gentlemen pre- sent, highly enlogising the teacher on her diligence and the good pro- gress of the pupils during the past half year. A vote of thanks was then' moved for the teacher for her kind- ness and faithfulness by Mr. Harri MacNevin, trustee, seconded by Mr. John Gillis and carried unanimously. A vote of thanks was also rendered the ladies present who helped the teacher so kingly in making the after noon a complete success.
