_ 9. Fur farming continues to make steady
‘nd gratifying progress along sound and stable
llvles. At the Royal Winter Bair in Toronto
last November, Prince Edward Island silver foxes

initial exhibition held in’ Charlottetown *last
October was attended with a gratifying measure-
of success. .
10. In the construction, improvement and
maintenance ot our public road, the power
machines purchased two years ago have done
excellent work, and the Department of Public
Works has sought to meet the needs of s. steadily
increasing traffic, by providing a considerable
r-ileage of well graded, well drained roads sur-
faced with the best local and imported material.
11. lt is anticipated that at the close of the.
present year, practically all the roads in the
province will have been gone over by the nla'ch-
ines and put in a highly satisfactory condition.
During the past year many wooden bridges have
hccn replaced by steel and concrete culverts and
ix is the intentiontocoutinue such permanent
work. _
12. At the annual meeting of the Good Roads
Association of Canada held in Cllarlottetowll last
year and attended by delegates fronrnli parts of
the Dominion, various phases of road making
in thadiiferent provinces were dealt with. The
valuable information presented and the_vlews
exchanged will he of much benefit to _us in‘deal-
lng with our local road problems.
13. There has been s good yield from our
fisheries and prices have been ‘fairly satisfactory.
The Department of Fisheries at Ottawa has
made arrangements whereby our fishermen are
enabled to take a course of instruction in Hali-
fax, practically free of charge, on a number _of
important subjects including the latest methods
in the preparation of dried, pickled and boneless
fish. '
14. It is pleasing to note that the representa-
tions of my Government, supported by federal
ynembers of Parliament, for improvement in our
transportation facilities _have met with a prompt
response from the Federal Government and
that the contract has been awarded for the build-
ing of a modern, powerful, oil-burning car ferry
steamer to be put in operation in the year 1931.
Extensive additions are also being made to the
Bord n and Cape Tormentine terniinals. 1 I sm
also ileased to note the provision made by the
Federal Govtrnment in other respects for trafilc,
and shipping 'requirements in this Province.
Among the undertakings completed or now
under way are the construction of potato ware-
houses at shipping centres,_the dredging of many
of our harbours, the repairing of our wharves,
the building of the Lake Verde branch, and the
standardization of the Murray Harbour railway.

ters relatin to our educational situation. The

large majority of the voters declared in favour
of the 'Prohibition Act. as it is now the law in
this Province, and against the sale of alcoholic'

emphatic mandate 'of the people having beenl
obtained in this way, the vigorous and effective
enforcement of the Prohibltion»Act is being con-
tinued. . |
21. As a result of the work of lm expert
chartered sccoultant engaged by my Govcrn-
ment' during recess, a simpler. more accurate nur_`

been introduced. ,

Probate Court, an Act for the Prevention of
