Kingston Distinctly Seen at Oswege- Everything K« flected. Just before the sun sank to rest fo the blue waters of Ontario last nignt persons along the lake front and from lower bridge wiiuessed one of the most beautiful and raest phenomena wit- nessed in this climate-—a muraze. lt was first discovered shortly atte! T o’clock. The Duck and Galloup is ania, the entrance to Kingston har bor, masts of vessels, and what appeared to be buildings like fortifications hung suspended in the sky. It was a remarkable picture and was witnessed for more than half an hour by hundreds of people, and then gradu- ally faded away. Records of such phenomena are not kept, and data re garding them on Lake Ontario are avi to be had. That of last evening, 10w ever, is said to have been clearest ané most distinct seen in many years from Oswego. A mirage on the lake is hot infrequent in midsummer, but is >are- ly seen at this season of the year. He was a creature Of emv- tions and strong pass.ous. His naiuce was undisciplined. The right milu- ences for the discipline of such a chare acter as his were but seldom around him. The influences he knew were all too severe and repressive on the one hand, or all too lax on the otner. He Was subject to moments of fiery en- thusiatm, and to days of acute fe- morse. But, for all that, he worked, and worked hard. He used to say that he could not conceive a uéore mortify- ing picture of human life than a man seeking work. ‘Make work,’ he would say, and he made it.* * On the other hand, Burns was honestly touched by real evidences of desoted living, and especially armmong the poor. The old Scoteh habit uf family worship always appealed to him, and he would suffer no one to make sport of it. There were some recollections that wére sacred to him through life, and one of these wes of his father, who, as the household gathered around the ingle, would kneel, saying simply, ‘Let us worship God,’ and then, with patriarchal grace, read from ‘the big ha-Bible.’ was something more than a memory, for when Robert had won wide re- cognition aS a poet, and all Scotland was flattering him, he passed the tedi* ous weeks of a long illmess in a study of the Scriptures... While in one of hig dark moods, feeling that poverty must always be before him, he said, ‘But I have sturdily withsiood these buffct- ings many a hard-labored day, and still my motto is, I Dare!’ Burns ever contemplated with indignatioa the in- equality of human conditions. and the contrast between his own worldly cir- cumstances and his intellectual rank. He expressed this thought a thousand times, in a thousand ways.” Fascinating Advertising. We have had much pleasure frons the contemplation of a piece of ad- | vertising enterprise from over the 1 Scots border, says the Canadiaa Grocer. To us the appeal seems ir- resistible andassafeto draw the cus tom desired as the magnei is to draw the needie. “Boys!’’ one of the notices begins, going on to enquire whether they have anything on to-morrow, in which extremely probable case a “good stiff game at marbies’” is recommended Then follows a list which. on referring to our own memories 0: days gone by and the boundless possibili.es that lurked in the humbie copper, we know oy be absolutely irresistible. “Jarries, 2 a penny,” “commies, 40 a penny,” “Chinese glasses, 12 a penny,” and so forth, finishing up with the stirring eounsel: “Go in and win, and dream you dwell in ‘Marble. Halls.” The ap- -KIDNEY-SICK PEOPLE! By far the largest army of sufferers in the worid are the kidney-sick people—but by far the largest army of the cured ones attribute their release from disease to the great South American Kidney Cure— Cures Bright’s disease. Cures diabetes. Cures all bla’ 2.) Wervre Pa == - — ( . 2 F a | w ailments. Kidney diseases are the most in- sidious of all diseases common to humanity ; within the past few years medical science has made wonderful strides in coping with its ravages. South American Kidney Cure has proved rich in healing power, and every day testimony is piled up for its great curative quali- ties. Where kidney disease exists it is generally indicated by certain changes in the urine, such as mucus, sediment, albumen, brick dust, acid and blood—pain is not necessarily an - accompaniment, which only aggra- =>. vates the insidious nature ofit. Test- ing and experimenting has disclosed the fact thet the passing through these organs of the solid particles in the ordinary course of circulation do in a remarkably short while clog up, grind out and impair them so that the functions of these organs are not performed and disease lays hold on the patient with a ruthless hand, Kidney diseases require a solvent— South American Kidney Cure is a solvent—it is a kidney specific— claims to be no more—it has been tested by eminent medical authorities on kidney diseases, and proved and testified to by them as the surest and safest cure for all diseases of the kidneys and bladder. It's a purifier—a healer—a health builder—efficacious alike to man or woman. Good News from the North Country— A young machinist in a large manufacturing con- cern in Northern Ontario, fell a victim to the dropsical form of kidney disease through at- mospheric changes in following his daily labors— he continued his work until almost commanded to quit by the physician from whom he had been receiving treatment, He visited Toronto and consulted an eminent authority on kidney dis- eases. The doctor sent him home with ashopeful a story of himself as he could give, but wrote privately tothe young man’s physician that it was only a matter of time with him until death would claim another kicney victim. Wheu he began to realize for himself that his case was hopeless he took his case in his own hands, de- termined to fight for his life. He experimented with many so-called cures without relief. South American Kidney Cure was brought to his notice, and like everything else, he tried it—to his astonishment he began to feel better under its use. Hecontinued to gain strength—he took six bottles —and to-day that same young man can be found at that same lathe, working for that same concern, hale and hearty as the first day he went there. He givesall the credit to South American Kidney Cure, SOUTH AMERICAN NERVINE—Isa nerve healer, Cures indigestion and all stomach troubles which are forerunners of nervous colla S.
