The bureau's monthly labor sur- vey estimated 150,000 persons were jobless and seeking work in the week ended July 23. compared with 157,000 a month earlier and 172,- 090 in the corresponding week of separate figures issued at the same time by the labor depart- men showed 2l1.280 unfilled job sppiicaiions on file at National Employment Service offices at July 21. This was a decline of 40,656 from the June 16 figure of 251,936 and a drop of 52.134 from am July n. 1954, total of 263,514.
