The Convent schoo!s reopened today. ain alia Decoration Day—On account of the rain on Sunday afternoon the Oddfellows had to postpone their Decoration Day service until yesterday forenoon. The proceedings took place yesterday forenoon, however, and the ceremony was ‘of a most interesting character. Tne graves of the deceased brethern in the various cemeteries were becomingly decorated with flowers. The Oddfellowa wish to thank the ladiesof Alpha Rebekah Lodge and all brothers and friends who so kindly furnish«d them with toe flowers which made their decoration service such a } Success. Boat Race Yesrerpay.—-A sail boat race took place in the Harbor yesterday. Theie were four starters, viz., The Cor- pet owned by the League of the Cross Band, the Now Then owned by James Dogherty. the Smoothing Iron owned by John T. Mills, and a ‘boat owned by James O’Connor. There was a fresh breeze blowing from the westward and the boats made goed headway going up the East River After turning the East River buoy the Cornet took the lead which she held and gradually widened be- tween the boats, finishing first about two miles in advance of the second boat. ‘The Now Then was second and the Smoothing Iron third.
