Tim death cccuired at New Glasgow,
on the 15thinst.,of Ausline McCoubrey,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs Wm. D. Mc-
Couhrsy. This young woman, who
was aiectionately esteemed in her circle
of friends and aequaintances,was but 15
years of age. She was ill for a coii~
siderahle time and bore her sufferings
with Christian fortitude. She was a
worthy member of the Presbyterian
'church and died in faith. The afilicted
parents and family have the sympathy

THE SILKEN TIE.-A very pretty Wed
ding occurred at 8 o`clock Wednesday- ‘
evening, Nov. 3O:h, at Hayden Terrace,
Roxbury. The contracting parties
were George S. Murray, of Roxbury,
Mass., and Mary, eldest daughter of
James Boyce, Esqr., Bonshaw, P. E.
Island. Tue' Rev. Mr. Dunlop. of the
Roxbury Presbyterian church, ofiiciated.
It was a quiet wedding, about twenty
being present. The rooms were pret-
iily decorated with potted -plants and
cut Bowers. The bride looked very
pretty and carried a bouquet of roses.
The happy couple were the recipients
of many beautiful and valuable presents
including silver. china and glassware,
bric a.-brac, etc. Mr. and Mrs Murray
have the best wishes of their many

_ friends.
New Prarn No'rioe.-Mr. Cook,who
has been _ engaged by the di-
rectors of' the factory as cheese-
maker for the summer months, has
been retained the remainder of the year
for the manufacture of butter and ac-
cording to the voice of the pastroris, he
is turning out a superior article, which
no doubtcampetes favorably in tho Eng-
lish market.-Owing to the very mixed
weather which prevailed for the last
two months the ilow of milk is consid-
erably above the average- John
Moore, who emigrated to Rossliind. B.
C., is well satisfied with his new _home
and the WEEKLY GUARDIAN is a wel-
come visitor at his house, for it reminds
him of his Island home and the many _
events in connection therewith. The
publicatim in the GUARDIAN of the 8th
inst., entitled “A Pure Election” has
highly merited the approbation of GUAR-
DIAN readers in this vicinity, ar least
those who have common sense. The
pulpit and press. no doubt, are the
most] powerful levers to cirrect this
miserable habit. which is growing too
rapidly on the risin;-:_ generation of the-_
province and is productive of much evil
to the welfare of any civilized country.
It is to be regretted that the cavididatfs
and their agents are not the only parties
who are guilty di fostering the growth
of this wicked and unprincipled system
