2% . EXAMINATION AT ST. DUNSTAN’S COLLEGE. The anawal examination of the etudents of St. Dunstan's College took place on Thars- | day, the 26th inst College undergoing extensive repairs, the public were not invited to atterd as in for- mer years. [here were, however, present-on the yveestsron, nearly all the Cathotic clergy In consequence of the of the diecese, the Rev. John Quinnan, of} Liv: the dioeese of Arichat, the perents of the students and several other friends of the In- stitution fromthe City. The students ac-| quitted themeelyes very creditably in the! various Kaylish, French, Latin and Mathe- matical clasees in which they were examined, | and were highly complimented by the Rev. | Mr. Quinnan, who, after the cramination, addressed them at considerahie leagth on the great advantages of a good education and the numerous fuctiities for mental improvement placed withia their reach. The classes were anterspersed with numereus pieces of vocal | and imstrumental masic, which reflected much credit on the youthful performers and | , their professor, and added much to the) pleasure enjoyed by the respectable audience | in attendance. ‘The proceedings of the day were terminated by the national anthem, | which was played in excellent style by the! band. Whatever, therefore, produces health is better than yuldor any other kind of earthly riches. The history of the world presents a sad nicture of mortality.” Premature death seems to be the rule rathor han the exception. Of the ehildren born, our reliable statistieul tables inform us that, not | more than oue-thirl reach the age ef eight years, and less than one-fourth of the whole ever arrive | atthe juvenile age of twenty years, while among the brute creulivn a wuch greater proportion reach | full maturity. Improper treatment, Want of care iu the weaving of ebildsen, irregular habits, and an abuse of the means of preserving life and health, are the fruitful sousces of disease and premature decay. Agwust ultimate death (as we oll know) there is no remedy. The fiat has gone forth, * Dust thou art, and to dust shalt thou re- turn’ but the evils of disease can be averted and digenaged, and the relenticss hour of death often put far away by careful attention, and the timely and proper use of auch emvullicuta and remedies as the science and skill of eminent men have produced far the purpose, among whom none have become more justly celebrated, or conferred greater bene fits on maukiad, by couducing to their health, and tonsequently wealth, long life and happiness, tun Professor ikower, of London. The beneficial effects prodaced by his Pills have given thein a World wide popalarity which is only equalled by the Immense demand for them, thercby created.
