Stein- crohn, a Hartford. Oonn, heart specialist, the human body -is tougher than you think and needs only a little common-sense care to permit you to achieve a ripe old age. Not only can the body take an astonahlng amount of puiiisltisie-nt and still function, says Dr. Stein- crohn in the October American Magazine, but it has an "infinite capacity to improvise, manufact- ure, and repair itself." ‘iwventy-flve years in the practice of medicine has convinced the doc- tor that most Americans scare too easily. "Too Itniiny of us,” he lam- ents, “translate a heart. skip into {imminent death; s backache into ailing kidneys; s headache into certain brain tmior." Your body," he reassures, "is the world's most incredible, resis- tant, and durable piece of mach- inery. It. has lllimltabie reserves that most of us in our lifetimes never even have to call out. All it needs s ai modicum of care; it asks only that you have s generous measure of foiih in its capacity to serve you." "That's why persons who appar- ently dis during open-anions. or who are drowned 0r ssphyxinited can be revived." While the body is tough, Dr. Stelncrohn warns that it isn't so hardy it doesn't need cooperation. Special features of this service were the roll call of the church and ordination of deacons. ‘The guest speaker for the occasion was Rev. J. D. Dsvlson, pastor of the Baptist Church st Charlottetown. After a devotional service con- ducted by the pastor, the roll was called by the clerk of the church. Mrs. Malcolm MacNeili. There was n good response on the part of the uesident memlbers, and a few responses from non-residents. A generous thank-offering was taken, followed by the singing of the fellowship hymn, “Blest Be The Tie That Binds.“ The second part of the service was the ordsining of Messrs. F. W. Stretch and "Rod" MacLeod to the diaconate of the church. The min- utes recording the appointment of deacons were read by the clerk. Appropriate scriptures were read by the pastor, and in the ceremony of “laying on of hands" the pastor was assisted by Rev. J. D. Dav- ison and senior deacon Hector MacLean. Mr. Davison oflered the ordaining prayer. Hymns sung at this service were: "0 Master Let Me Walk With Thee" and "Go Labor 0n. Spend And Be Spent." Special features of the thirdpart of the service were, a selection by the Long Creek Male Qusrtette. and the sermon by Rev. J. D. Davison. Mr. Davlson gavs a vary appropriate and challenging mu- sage on "The Lordship of Christ." The speaker reminded his audience that although certain men have from time to time sought suprem- acy over the hearts and minds of men, one by one they have gone down without permanently estab- lishing their claims, while Christ lives on and is still the supremo Lord and Saviour of Men. This psrt of the service closed with the benediction by Mr. Dav- ison. The final part of this service W3! a fellowship hour during which delicious refreshments were served by the ladies of the church and ongregation.
