The alfair ended in a dance which was kept up till the early hours. The committe in charge take this opportunity to express their appreciation to all who in any way helped in making the social such a decided success. A STBANGER in the town yesterday called at the store of Messrs. D. Rogers 8: Son, and purchased some tools and nails to the value of 17 dollars, saying that he was going to Miscouche to do some work, and in payment for the same he presented a cheque for 43 dollars with the name of A. Duchemin 8: Co. attached thereto, and payable to Isaac Salmderson, who he claimed to be, and this name he endorsed on the back of the' cheque and received 23 dollars in change. He claims furthar that he was one of the firm of A. Duche- min & Co. of Charlottetown and was doing business for them. He wished to have his goods taken to the Terrace House where he was stopping and where on inquiry it was was found he had given his name as Perkins. This led to suspic- ion and Mr. Rogers had at once a warrant issued for his arrest. About 3.30 o'clock policeman McDonald captured his man near the railway station on his way out the track and took him tojail on a charge of forgery. It seems that the man attempted to pass cheques on other business men but'was unsuclzesdlil in each case.
