TRAFALGAR DAY.- To-morrow,
Trafalgar Day, will be Visitors' Day
at Prince Street School. The school
will be open to visitors at 9 ofclock

be massed in the assembly hall, whore
a patriotic programme will be render-
ed. A collection will be taken from
pupils and visitors in aid of the spe-
cial Red Cross Fund now being collect-

NARROW ESCAPE.- An accident-
not of very serious nature occurred
among the fishing fleet at Cranberry
Wharf a few days ago, when the mot-
or boat Destroyer owned by Mr.
William Dougan crashed boom into
the fishing yacht "Uncle" owned by
Mr. John Bradley doing -considerable
damage ‘to her bow. Fortunately it
was above the water line, otherwise
the accident might have been attend-
ed with loss of life.-S.

C. T. Knowlton. commander of the
fishery protection service steamer
Gulnare, has severed his connection
with that service to accept thc posi-
tion of superintendent of car ferries.
Captain Knowlton has had a long and
honorable career in the marine and
fisheries and fishery protection ser-
vice. being at the time of his retire-
ment the senior captain of thc ser-
_vicc, his services extending over 2S
years, during which he commanded
some of the crack clipper sail cutters
of the service and inter commanded-
tho steamer Canada, on both of which
were trained the first hatch of “mid-
dies" to enter the Imperial Navy from
Canada, all of whom arc now oillccrs
on ll. M. ships. As it fishery protoc-
tion ofllcer, Captain Knowlton was a
terror to evil doors. Since thc out.-
lircak of the war he has rciulcred
splendid service on the Giiliiai'v, per-
forming dutics of rcsponsiliility on
tho Nova Scotia coast. Captain
Knowlton enters upon his new /duties
