Mrs. Mildred Gay arid Mrs. Ed- ward Murphy. who have spent the summer months in Montague, left for their respective homes in Bos- ton, Mass. Mrs. Murphy spent the summer at her home here. while Mrs. Gay was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Wightman. The construction equipment of the Poole and Beer Construction Company has been moved to Bay- fieid where the immense gravel pit is located. After completing the grnvelling of many roads in the southern section, the company is at present gravelling the roads in the riort-hem section. About thirty trucks are engaged in haul- ing grsvel, and it- is expected that about. 29.000 yards will be removed from the pit which contains is gravel of exceptionally fine qual- ity. ‘The roads around Baltic, Souris River, Town Brae. Bear River and many others will all receive e. good coating of gravel before the winter season sets in. Residents are delighted to see t-hc Legion Hail receiving a new coat cf paint, which vastly chang- es its former appearance. During the past month the hall has been completely retiovated. In the front are located two large show windows, while on the side the opening has been completely cov- ered. The inside which was form- erly e. store and large stairway, has been so changed that it will be divided into two large stores each with its show window and entrance. In the rear a. private stairway has been placed for ent- rancc to the Legion Hall above. A new hardwood floor will be lala downstairs .and a new softwood floor upstairs. with such renova- tions inside, the ladies of the Le- gion Auxiliary decided to have the interior painted. Messrs. Ponce Larkin, Clarence Landry. and Vernon steele have already com- pleted the first coating, and ex- pect. to finish the second coating within a short time. After the trimmings have been completed, the Legion Hall will hove a beati- tiful appearance,‘ and will add one more fine building to the com- munity. Lan. ‘C. W. L.
