The full skirt was caught up in tiny bow knots and the fitted bodice fea- tured a square scalloped neck- line enhanced with alenoon lace and seed pearls. The long sleev- es tapered to points over the wrists. Her bouffant veil French silk illusion was held in place by a piilhox headdress oi seed pearls and rhinestones. We stopped at the "Pruet” farm. which is located nine miles from the town and I went horseback riding. swim- ming in the river, and walking across the swinging bridge over Rucoon Ford. The farm house was built back in 1820 and dur- ing the Civil War was used by the "South" as a hospital. From Mrs. Mdxley's brother I receiv- ed a miminie hall. a civil war bullet and an Indian arrowhead used by the Powhatan tribe. The next morning we Ohiairotztesville, where the University of Virginia is lo- cated and on to Montecello, the home of Thomas Jefferson. The drive up the Blue Ridge Moun- on Slcylime D ' was scenic. In Luray we visited the Caverns. the largest and most popular in the Eastern states. Returning to Kensington I moved to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bebee and because it was raining on Wednesday. I went to see the National Gal- lery of Art. It appealed to me because I had never visited one before. We didn't tour all the eighty some marble galleries.l because that would have taken? afternoon. We went to see the slides of the battle. the parlan- oma which depict Pic k e t t s charge, the museum, the elec- tric map, the battlefield itself with all the interesting points and the wax museum.
