residence, Abram's Village, lu his
58th year, aft'er un attack of ty-
phoid fever contracted While

Lake. The deceased was VGFY
well and favorably known through-

and builder of bridges. He was
also associated with all move-
ments for the benefit of his fel-
iowmcn, having been President oi
the Egmont Bay Farmers institute;
also the chief organizer and Pre-
sident of the Union Farmers Ctr
operative Society, Wellington,
which has proved such a success
since it was organized four years
ago. The late Mr. Porrier was one
of tile pioneers to the Klondyka
in 1897. ln those .days the trip lu
was nlnde on foot for hundreds of
miles into that frozen region. Bs-

ISLAND JESUIT AT LUYOLA.
The Montreal Star announces that
Rev. Father George F. Bradley,
S. J., wllo has been stationed at
St. Andrews- on- the- Hudson,
Poughkeepsie, N. Y., has been
appointed to the faculty of Loyola
College, Montreal, being appoint-
ed Minister and Prefect of Disci-
pline. Fr. Bradley is a son of Mr.
Francis Bradley, Kelly'a Cross.
The Supreme Court, which has
been in session in Georgetown for
the past two weeks closed on
.Tuesdny. The last case tried was
that-of Archibald C. MacLeod.
Appellant, and Obed McCallum.
Respondent, which wus heard bo-.
fore Mr. Justice Fitzgerald. 'l`he
case arose over an obstruction to
u drain. Mr. McCallum was thc
road master, and constructed the
drain in front of the nppt-linnt‘s
-premises. in Lot 63. Tile road
nluster took action against Mc
Leod for obstructing the drain.
The case was tried before a Jus-
tice of the Peace last winter, when
MacLeod was convicted und fined
$1.00 and costs. Tho appellant
appealed fr: ill this conviction to
the Suprttue Court, carl twenty

peilant's counsel, and the consent
of the Attorney General, agreed
to have the point argued in
Cllambers. Mr. J. D. Stewart, K.
