The football game between teams from the Fourth R-giment and the other branches of the service last night was watched by a large number of spectators and proved very interesting. The game, notwithstanding that the players were not in the pink of condition, was keenly contested and gave an excellent exhibi- tiod of that game in which this province has iilwa-ys beensi leader. Jones of the 52nd was a tower nf strength for his men and Bob Donahoe, C J McMillan, Chas McQuillan, were prominent in the Artilierymen. All the players put up good work however and very creditable. in the first half Donahoe scored but the goal was not converted. In the second half the United Service ru-eased hard bu could not cross the line. The game ended Artillery 3 and United Service O. Jas McM`ilian was an efficient referee. ADDRESS AND PRESENTATION. [The advance of General Kurskias forces has been greatly hindered by the advent ofthe rainy season but has not been stooped. The weather conditions are, however, much more in favor of the Russians who are in fixed positions, than of the Japanese who have to move and transport their guns, ammunition and supplies in order to attack. The statement by General Knroki of Japanese intentions in the future progress ofthe war contrasts with the previous reticence in that regard, but sounds reasonable and probable enough. The Baltic fleet will not cause anybody much concern until it actually sails.
