PUBLIC NOTICE. “ HEREAS a Commission has been isued. directed to us. under and by virtue of an Act passed in the fourteenth year of the reign of “or present Majesty Queen Victoria, entitled “An Act to regulate the laying out and altering of Highways,” and in the Acts in amendment thereof; whereby we are commanded to enquire what damage or advantage will accrue to those persons who are interested in the Land through which a certain new road is intended to be made, commencing at the southern termination of the present road through Bay Fortune Settlement,and terminat- ing at the shore at Howe Bay, and which road will run through or over the lands ot James Dingwell and Charles Dingwell. Now we do hereby give Public Notice to all parties concerned, that we will commence the execution of the said Commission, by attending at the aforesaid place, on MONDAY, the 27th day of AUGUST next, at the hour of Eleven o’clock, in the forenoon of the same day, and will proceed along the proposed line ofroad and complete said Commission according to law. I E 4i IS Excellency the Lieutenant Governor in Council was this 1 day pleased to fix and determine the rate at which the amount of the Invoice of Dutiable Goods imported into this Is- land from the United States bf America, shall, in estimating the duties payable thereon, be reduced into current money of the Island, as follows:— In all cases where such Invoices shall be made out in Dollars and Cents of the paper currency of the United States, the amount of such Invoice shall be reduced into current moneybf the Island, by allowing for each Dollar the sum of Five Shillings, and in the like proportion for any fraction of a Dollar; of which all Collec- tors of Impost are to take notice and govern themselves accor- d' l . mg y CHARLES DESBRISAY, C.
