in France to have solved a diiiicult
problem in a very I satisfactory way.
A large electric tricyole, with wide
wheels and a cub for the operator ia so
constructed that it can be readily driven
along any tow-path. and fed \vith_cur-
rent ft om overhead wires , easily hauls
trains ot barges that a dozen horses
could not move. No rails are neces-
sary while two electric horses on meet-
ing can pass by simply shifting their
trolleys. The matter is especially in-
tended for drawing trains of coats, ar d
for single boats M. Gslliot proposrs to
use a propelling rudder, which is a
narrow iron,haviug a screw at its
rear, the rudder itself , contain-
ing the electric motor, which receives
current from the tow-path wires through
suitable trolley cables. The propelling
rudder can be substituted for the or-
dinary one in a few minutes.

Ingersoll, Ont Feb. 11 Mr Geo
Harnbriege, of the Ingersoll Pork Pach-
ing Company, was fatally injured by
falling down stairs at the residence of
Mr William McGrath, on Monday night
and next morning he was unconscious
and died about 11 0’clock.
