'Campbell and others who reside near by the -Campbell’s Cove deposits of sea manure, kelp, the very best fertilizer in the world for potat- oes containing as it` does, n large Der- centagc of potash. Last fall as high as 51,10 per cwt was paid for pota- toes at the factory. But starch was then vci~,/ high nbout 12c a pound, whereas it used to be only 2 nnd 3c a pound. Starch, since the war ended, is lower and now is about 7c. Ten pounds of potatoes make one pound of starch, so that a cwt, makes ten pounds; or $1.25 last fall in the starch. This year the potato crop with the patrons is excellent, but they can~ not expect last fall's prices, probably 60c a cwt, would be a fair price.-S.
