      Society
      had
      a
      great
      time
      last
      year,
      hosting
     
     
      a
      successful
      tournament,
      and
      travelling
      to
      4
     
     
      off-Island
      tournaments.
      UPEI
      also
      won
      the
     
     
      MacDonald-Reid
      debate
      against
      Holland
      Col-
     
     
      lege
      for
      the
      second
      year
      in
      a
      row!
      Debating
     
     
      Society
      is
      a
      good
      way
      to
      improve
      your
      public
     
     
      speaking
      skills
      while
      getting
      to
      know
      some
     
     
      great
      people.
     
    

    
     
      This
      fall
      we
      plan
      to
      attend
      the
      Atlantic
     
     
      Regional
      Tournament
      at
      Mount
      Allison,
      as
     
     
      well
      as
      holding
      a
      tourney
      of
      our
      own.
      Plus,
      as
     
     
      any
      oflast
      year’s
      members
      cantell
      you,
      we
      have
     
     
      lots
      of
      ‘social
      gatherings’’
      throughout
      the
     
     
      year!
     
    

    
     
      The
      debating
      itself
      is
      not
      difficult,
      and
     
     
      we
      do
      a
      lot
      of
      practicing
      in-house,
      with
      topics
     
     
      that
      range
      from
      important
      social
      issues
      to
     
     
      whether
      or
      not
      Campbell’s
      Chunky
      Soup
      should
     
     
      be
      eaten
      with
      a
      fork
      or
      spoon.
      And,
      contrary
      to
     
     
      popular
      belief,
      there
      is
      absolutely
      no
      research!
     
    

    
     
      We
      hold
      two
      meetings
      a
      week
      to
      try
      to
     
    
   
   
    
     
       
     
    
   
   
    
     
      accomodate
      as
      many
      different
      schedules
      as
     
     
      |
      possible.
      The
      meetings
      are
      very
      low-pressure:
     
     
      don’t
      be
      afraid
      to
      just
      come
      and
      watch!

      Wednesday

      pm,
      in
      the
