Ihll "me you have witnessed the unfolding of a half century of his- tory. You have lived in times of war and in times of peace; in days of prosperity and in days of de- pression; you have seen many in- ventions which made life easier. more streamlined and much more complicated. Throughout those years. of change your ideals have remained urichanged and. while you have adjusted to this modern age. you have never forgotten that the duty to love God and one's neighbor applies to all men and all times. We realize that you have had to make many sacrifices in order to rear eleven children and at the same time contribute generously to the life and welfare of your community. But we feel that the memories of those sacrifices and the recollection of the years of happy family life together. added to the joy of being united once again with your children in the old home. give you great comfort and satisfaction today. As a token of our esteem, please accept this small gift together with our sincere wishes for many more years of happiness together. Your Neighbors of Grand Tracadie Oct. 31. 1954 Dear Father and Mother: It is with great joy and thanks- giving that we your sons and daughters, our husbands and wives and your grandchildren gather at the old homestead on this memor- able day to celebrate with you the fiftieth anniversary of your mar- riage. which took place fifty years ago to-day at St. Bonaventure's Church, Tracaclic Cross, P. E. I. God blessed you with eleven children all of whom are living and are present here today. Ten of your children are now happily married, marriages which we hope will follow in the same christian like pattern of your own. As we. the members of your family. glance back today over the years spent at home. we will recall that they were years of happiness. Our home was a happy home, one filled with love of God, of each other and of our neighbor. We recall too the occasions when you would scold us for some wrong- doing. at that time we thought you were unfair to us but now we know and realize it was for our own good and benefit and we thank you for it. We know too the sacri- fices you made in order to rear eleven children, but we feel that being united here today with all the members of your family. on this your golden jubilee. gives you a great measure of comfort and thanksgiving to God. Now most of us have our own homes and we hope that each of us will conduct his or her home in the way you have conducted yours. At this time we also recall the many occasions we have returned home to visit, those are happy memories, whether we came alone or were accompanied by friends your welcome was always the same, for you made our friends your friends. Now dear Father and Mother. you have given us a christian edu- cation. a splendid social life, taken an active part in everything done for the good of the commu- nity snd have trained us to do the same and have brought us up, to the best of your ability. to be re- spectable and reliable citizens, for all these things we thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and we sincerely hope that we will all gather here again in ten years to celebrate with you your sixticth anniversary.
