April i7-'I‘he work of transforming London into a color- ful "carnival city" for the celebra- tion of the Royal Jubilee was under way today. After many weeks of labor by an army of workers, high poles. sur- mounted by a crown and the lion (have been erected on both sides of the streets through which the Royal carriage will pass enroute from Buckingham Palace to 5t. Paul's Cathedral and. also along the route cf the Royal procession returning to the palace. Buildings "Dressed" -'| All government buildings inure and flower boxes, destined to be filled with blooming plants just before the Jubilee opens, have been placed at all available lo- cations to add to the festive ap- pearance. The familiar busm and trolley cars will not be recognized when the students of the Royal Ocllege of Arts finish painting the ve- hicles. In the city (the financial district) the students are scarlet and silver as the predom- inating calms and in Westminster, sold and blue. These are the offi- cial colors of the two districts In the Westminster district the residents of the various streets are competing to make each street the most attractive. Spools! Beets for h-ocesslcn Special to the streets through which tilt royal procession will pass and the fortunate shop owners and resid- ents are expected to reap a rich harvest from the sale of seats in windows and on balconies, many of which have been erected es- pecially for the occasion. The price of choice seats, af- fording a good view of the proces- sion, ranges from $15 to $35. Real estate agents have rented vacant buildings for the occasion and- are doing a lend office business sell- ing seats erected in front of them and re-selilng those antage points they have succeeded in pur- chasing from other property own- ers. .
