THE ELECTION lil - WEST llllEEil'S r Results in Victory of Liberal Candidate. Horace Haszard has a Majority of 284 Over Mr- Mclean With Three Polls Still to be Heard From. I The election yesterday was conducted with most unfavorable weatberoondittons, a heavy drift storm raging during the en- tiro day,and the travelling in the country especially was very bad. In the city great interest was taken in the contest and a large yote was polled. At the last by-election Mr. Farquharson had a majority of 218 in Charlottetown and Royalty. This was reduced to ll5 yesterday. Mr. Haszard held his own well however in the rural districts. The total vote polled as will be seen from the returns is larger even with three polls to hear from than that of the by-election of 1002. The figures show that while the Conservatives :have increased their vote the Liberals have well held their own. Mr. I-iaszard`s majority last night with Granville, Milton and St. Catherines to be heard from was 284 and estimates place his total majority at about three hundred votes.
