warmed up, but when cold requires
priming and, after 'stand-ing, fre-
quently stalls and requires a second
cranking. When ilnally started, it
seems inclined to “run away wirth
itself" as ii the gas fe -took
effect at once. Please eilblain and
suggest remedy. _»
Answer: The reason that it re-
quires priming _is that, in its cold
condition, the carburetor falls to
furnish the cylinders a mixture rich
enough to be igniitable The' remedy
for this situation -'is to cause such an
excess of gasoline to be fed through
the carburetor -that enough of the
readily _vaporizable portions of the
fuel will be sure to enter the cylin-
dere to insure infla-mmabliity . This
is 'usually dong by choking -the air
inlet of the carburetor almost com~
pletely so that hardly any al,-_enters
or by setting the carburetor 'adjuv-
men-t temporarily very rich. ‘ Some
