Usually, says SU Treasurer Ken Mutter, appointment to Senate and Board of Governors committees is spur of the moment and thus not always done carefully. Often, for example, Senate needs a student representative immediately and nominates a student Senator, regardless of whether or not the student can or wants to sit on the committee. ‘ This situation is exaggerated on the Board of Governors, where Mutter is the only current student rep, and sits on seven committees. _ ‘ ' All students interested in learning more about UPEI and influencing policy are asked to leave their names at the Student Union Office. No experience or prior knowledge is needed for most positions — an orientation period is usual for new committee members. .
