     PROVINCIAL BUILDING. The historic Provincial Building containing 
     
     the Confederation Chamber, with its original furniture, etc., as used by 
     
     "The Fathers of Confederation", is well worth seeing. The Provincial 
     
     Legislative Assembly Room is also worth a visit. 
     
    
   
   
    
     GOVERNMENT HOUSE. The residence of the Lieutenant-Govemor. 
     
     A beautiful old colonial style building in a splendid setting overlooking 
     
     Charlottetown Harbour at the entrance to Victoria Park. Drive around 
     
     the boulevard past Fort Edward and admire the magnificent view of 
     
     Charlottetown Harbour. Here there are facilities for swimming, picnick- 
     
     ing, tennis, baseball, and track and field activities. 
     
    
   
   
    
     DOMINION EXPERIMENTAL STATION. Situated to the northeast of 
     
     the City and reached via Route 6 turning left after crossing the rail- 
     
     way at the end of Longworth Avenue. Visitors are aiwa s welcome and 
     
     may see beautiful flower gardens, animals of various kin , poultry. and 
     
     exp3'tlimentai' plots where various crops are tried out under different

     ST. DUNSTAN'S,UNIVERSITY. A splendid group ofibuildings, this 
     
     progressive Roman Catholic University is situated on the Malpeque Road 
     
     (Route 2) approidmately 1 U2 miles from the centre of the city. 
     
    
   
   
    
     PROVINCIAL EXHIBITION GROUNDS. At the east end of the-City, 
     
     one of the most modern exhibition grounds and racing tracks in Eastern 
     
     Canada is to be seen. Horses can be seen daily working out under their 
     
     trainers, and Old Home Week, held during mid-August, together with 
     
     night racing each Friday and Saturday during the Summer months,

     SHOPPING DISTRICT. Charlottetown has an excellent shopping district, 
     
     comprising Richmond, Queen, Kent, Great George, and Grafton Streets, 
     
     all in the immediate centre of the City. There are a number of attractive 
     
     departmental stores and many privately-owned businesses where it is a 
     
     pleasure to shop and where every courtesy and good quality merchandise 
     
    
   
   
    
     is provided. 
     
    
   
   
    
     PRINCE OF WALES COLLEGE AND VOCATIONAL SCHOOL. Are 
     
     modern in every way and house the Prince Edward Island Government's 
     
     High School, the headquarters of the -P. E. I. Libraries, the National 
     
     Film Board, and Vocational training centre. 
     
    
   
   
    
     CIIURC. Among these are St. Paul's Anglican Church which has 
     
     a considerable amount of history attached to it, St. James Presbyterian 
     
     Church, St. Peter's Anglican Church, St. Dunstan's Roman Catholic 
     
     Basilica which is one of the outstanding examples of church architecture. 
     
     Trinity United Church which is one of the largest churches east of 
     
     Montreal, along with the Baptist Church, Central Christian Church. Holy 
     
     Redeemer Catholic Church, Zion Presbyterian Church, and the Salvation 
     
     Army Citadel. ' . 
     
    
   
   
    
     QUEEN SQUARE, situated in the centre of the city. Here may be found 
     
     South African and Great War Memorials, as well as other Monuments 
     
     and Plaques of considerable interest. On Queen Square is situated the 
     
     Court House Building, the Provincial Building, and the Post Office Build- 
     
     ing'. Just west of the Post Office Building is the City Market, where 
     
     farmers of the surrounding areas come twice weeklyeiluesdays and 
     
     Fridays-to display their wares and -sell same to the public. dust north 
     
     of the Market is a neat brick building known as the Public Library and 
     
     Harris Memorial Gallery. Here one caniobtain reading matter of all 
     
     kinds,and view paintings of the late Robert Harris.
