THE AYIIERICAN CASE. ~ The Canadian Dominion has almost the longest international boundary on earth. It is over 3,000 miles along the boundary line from the Atlantic to the Pacific. To this we most add 1,200 miles from the Portland Channel to the Arctic Ocean he- tween our territory and Alaska, making 4,200 miles. ‘At one time or another near- ly or quite one half this vast length of boundary line has been in dispute. In the forties of the last century by two settle- ments the boundary wa - settled,il'st from l the Atlantic to the St Lawrence, and a 3 I few years afterward from the Lake of the ‘i Woods to the Pacific Ocean. More recently the boundary was traced out through the Straits of Fuca south of Van- couver Island. And now by the present final settlement we have closed the zap of some 600 miles of disputed frontier extending aortlwud from Portland Channel to Mount St Elias. It is well to have itsettled.- It is xegretahic that one .maui wan: an swung boundary line should have remained down to the* morning of the twentieth century as a 'subject of international controversy. | A We have not get all that we desired by the latest- settlement, but “their is no` use in crying over spilled milk." In point of fact the milk was spilled a long while ago when the the treaty of 18% was made Britain and Russia. iiighermouatains furthei*inl¥\iil`v‘¥t__ was Government pix-i>ll‘¢d_3°l*ilU'f' -"h° a fairly debsteable question #Nth “¥_‘“°'*|°“ "U "°ll"°7§ll"°'”'.¥"~"° mountains should be chosen, but tdlere River to Dawson City, and lt was some rea-on fd! our 0DP°Pf"“_ thmuqh t_‘h°o°mm9.!’but;“'.=,. siaimivs the crests ci the hichcst in un- wi *PW* S°""'°' T” ._ _ . -,_|,;,,,h,1imi¢. of-the ion league' by Sir Wilfrid Laurier forbuilding from mms W ll d we been in the Stlckeen ins‘ea`d of the shorter line su-lp' we V ourselgash A “med the (by200miies) from Dyea at the head oil their places ww] bill: cd we were the Lynn Canal, was that the latter "is" same and wouli_i h_:v;__amsvebough__ and now Ameda” wn__mry_ From mme right. It pays’ them to give us a special dis- count, because they get more in one order from us than all the other firms together could give them. If you want tracted or treated you den't go to an ordinary doctor like you would twenty years ago, you at once go to a dentist who makes a special study of your kind of cases. Its exactly the same in the clothing business, twenty years ago-you would buy all kinds of Clothing from one man, now, you would buy fiom specialists who make one ~ kind of clothing and make it l well. Of course the little fel- lows who cannot buy enough to get these advantages sometimes make a howl over it-but we don’t blame them itsnot their fault they were born that way. We have more elegant clothing this fall than ever, and it’s being sold so fast, that you had better come in soon for your Suit or Over- CO&lZ . Prilwsc Ch’town.
