Just as the animal was preparing for a second leap, its owner appeared and called it off. The Presbytery of Prince Eiward Island met last evening at 7.30 in the church at St. Peter’s Road and was constituted: Mr. Sutherland, moderator pro tempore, with whom were present Messrs. J. G. Melvor, T. F. Fullerton Ministers, and Messrs. A. Robertson and T. C. James, Elders. The Presbytery resolved to proceed with the induction of Mr. W. T. D. Moss. Certification having been made that the edict was duly served, it was again read, and public worship was conducted by Mr. J. G. Melvor, who preached from John 94. The usual questions having been put ‘o Mr. Moss and sat’sfactorily answered, he was inducted into the Pastoral Church of St. Peter’s Road. Messrs. The people ran terror stricken into the streets. Houses swayed like ships at sea. In a number of cases roofs fell in, injuring many persons. The wildest scenes were at the theatres, where the performances were going On. Crowds made wild rushes for the exits. No respect was shown for women, weak or aged in the rush, and many were badly hurt. Yokunama,; May 20.—Princa Komatsu, commander-in-chief of the Japanese armies, has left Port Arthur and returned to Japan. The Japanese imperial guard will be sent to the island of Formosa in order to quell the disturbances there, and occupy the territery for Japan, according to the treaty of peace signed between China axi Japan.
