We are e lled upon to-day to chronicle th: death of two highly re:pee ed residents o Crapaud—Mr. Edward Rogerson «nd Mr James Cameron—who have recently bee: called very suddenly away. Mr. Rogerson was in the 68h year of his age, and leaves behind him a widow, sister of Isaac Smith, Eeq., of Crapaud, and one daughter, Mr« Robert Moore, of Westmoreland. Two brothers also survive him — William and Thomas, William being the eldest of the family, and Thomas the youngest—and a large circle of relatives Mr. Cameron was in his 77:h year and leaves behind him a widow, three sons and three danghtere. One son and three daughters are living in the States. The two soas living here are k. H. Camerou, of the firm of Mc- Lean and Cameron, and W. W. Cameron, Augustine Cove. Mr. Rogereon was a mem- ber of 3t. John’s Episcopal Church, Crapaud, and was buried in the cemetery here on Saturday, the i6’h inst. Mr. Cameron was connected with the Methodist Church, and was buried in the cemetery at Tryon on Friday, the 15th inst. The funeral processions in both instances were very large, The | bereaved families have the sympathy of the entire community. Family ties are broken, We know not the reasons why, But God, who knowest ali things, Will reveal to us bye and bye. Crapaud, April 18, 1892. Freveh Village, Lot 37, has lost one of its m st estimable ‘citizens in the person of; Elisha K. Coffin, Esq, who departed this life on Thursday morning, J]4:h inst., aged 71 years, Deceased possessed many excellent qualities which won for him the respect of all who had the pleasure of bis acquaintance. A warm, generous, open-hearted man, whose hand was ever ready to help the needy, and whose home was ever open to the stranger as well as to the friend. He was a most hospitable and kind-hearted msn in his own home. He for anumber of years held the office of Supervisor under the late Govern- ment and faithfully performed the duties in connection therewith. He was a consistent member us well as a liberal supporter of th: Presbyterian congregation of Mount Stewart and West St. Peters. The high esteem in which he was held by all classes was shuwn by the large number of people that followed his remains to their last resting place. He leaves a widow and three suis who bave the sympathy of the community in their bereave« ment, (Island papers please copy.) e 7--oere LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Morell Floating Bridge. Srx.- As the contract for rebuilding Morell Floating Bridge has been awarded, we would cali the attention of the Government to the importance of having an inspector appointed to that work who wili see that i: is coustcucted according to plan aud specifica tion. This isan important matter in which the whole district is interested. We want an inspector who is under no man’s thumb, and who is in such a position that he values neither the emiles nor frowns of the cm- tractor. We want to see this bridge built properly, and the above is the very first stept to thatead. A word to the wise is sufficient. ReEsIDENT, Morell, April 20, 1892, a Dangerous to Life. Srr,- I wish to ask the Commissioner of Public Works, is he ignorant of the state of Naufrage Wharf? The past summer the | bridges on this highway were destro ed and ‘the road was covered with stones, logs, &c ! ;The Government has not tried to discover the offenders or to repair the damage. It is time for the Commissioner and his stupid subordinates to make a move. They should either repair the road or close it legally, but the crime of cutting down bridges should be stopped and punished. A stranger travelling by night is liable to lose his life by driving in to those broken bridges. SAFETY. April, 1892. ———— 64 Belfast Sea Captains.
