HIC N Seven Aldermen Arrested. BrpDEForD, Aug. 27. A sensation was created this morning when United States Marshal Sander, of Portland, laced under arrest the sevrn aldermen of sideford and took them to Portland with several persons detained, as witnessess, on warrants from the United States District Court. The aldermen are charged with neglect- ing to strike from the Bideford voting list the nams of parties not legally entitled to vote, and for conspiracy in arrangingto place upon the lists the names of persons not legal voters. This action is a culmination of recent naturalization troubles in Biddeford, Ottawa Notes. Orrawa, Aug. 27. Sir John Thompson returned to Ottawa to-day, looking greatly improved in health by his ocean trip. He declines to make any statement yet regarding his official mis- sion. They are the same as are in use in the United States and will prove a very valuable adjunct to our already effic ient Salvage Corps. Fire.—Shortly before ten o'clock last evening, the alarm sounded for a blaze in the stable of Mr. E. Cameron, situated in the rear of his premises on Kent Street. The fire started among the straw in the loft, and before it could be extinguished the stable was pretty badly damaged. it is not known how the fire started, but it is thought to have been the work of an incendiary. Founp Deapv. —The lifeless body of Thomas Guilfoyle, a butcher in the employ of Blake Bros , was found onthe sidewalk on King Street, in front of the residence of the senior member of the firm, «t an early hour this morning. Guilfoyle boarded with Mr. Blake. He was working as usual yesterday, and appeared to be in good health and spirits. Last evening, sfter his day’s work, he dressed himself and went out. Shortly after ten he returned, and went upstairs to his room. Nothing further was heard of or from him until this morning, when his body was found on the side-walk, directly under his bedroom window, lying in a pool of blood. When found the unfortunate man had on his white shirt, drawers and socks. The supposition is that he took a weak turn, and leaning out of the window overbalanced himself and fell to the ground.*Guilfoyle, who was about 38 years of age, has been in the employ of the Messrs. Blake since he came from Ireland 18 years ago. He was a sober, inoffensive young man, and was a great favorite with his employers and all who knew him. He Was tohave been married shortly.
