The telephone system of this city, which was so badly interrlnzed cw- ing to the destruction of the cable repair hut hy fire last week, und the consequent melting of the cables run- ing into the telephone exchange, has now been completely restored and telephone subscribers are again on circuit and exchanging glad helios with central. The rapidity with which the repairs have been effected is highly creditable to the manager of the Telephone Co., and his staff. It seems almost incredible that in the short space of time that has e- lapsed since the fire nearly twelve hundred wires have been spliced and| connected, but such is actually what has been accomplished. The inter- ior 'of the telephone exchange has re- cently undergone a complete reno- vation prior to the displacement of the old switchboard. The wires now enter the building in under- ground cables and when the new s it improved service will be made most perfect.
