     worst-enforced. 
     
    

    
     Once in a while we see an ar- 
     
     ticle fn the papers, ridiculing the 
     
     idea, of enforcing the 15 mile per 
     
     hour limit. The person who writes 
     
     such a. letter generally lets the pub- 
     
     iic know that he is a vcry progress- 
     
     Ive person who "has a line" on the 
     
     lures; in auto-speed, and although 
     
     he only yesterday learned to crawl 
     
     and creep, he must now, so he 
     
     thinks, surpass the swiftcst bird of 
     
     flight, and the common house-fly 
     
     in speed, in order to hold his sup- 
     
     uriority in the universe. - 
     
    

    
     But 15 milcs per hour is not un-' 
     
     reasonably slow for a city like 
     
     Charlottetown, no matter what 
     
     spced-upstarts say to the contrary. 
     
     Only a few months ago, the great 
     
     metropolis of New York passed a 
     
     law decreeing that .18 miles per 
     
     hour be the limit on the average 
     
     street, and for many places it is as 
     
     low as 0 and 8 miles per hour, and 
     
     oven 4 miles per hour for going 
     
     around the corners. Poor slow New 
     
     Yorkers; how ashamed they must 
     
     feel of themselves when they come 
     
     to a renl city like Charlottetown 
     
     and see automobiles dashing around 
     
     corners at 25 miles an hour, and 
     
     past school-houses and hospitals at 
     
     the some rate, and at 25 or '30 miles 
     
     per hour down boulevards where 
     
     crowds of children, unfortunutciy._ 
     
     find their only playgrounds. The 
     
     sin-me of it all; the madness of it 
     
     all! 
     
    

    
     Surely the motor-traffic, uncon- 
     
     trolled, -is a nerve-racking, soul- 
     
     dcstt-oyitig force! Stand but. for a 
     
     few minutes on a street corner, and 
     
     11-inch the continual rush across the 
     
     street of pedestrians who must 
     
     hurry to escape the “might-ls- 
     
     right“ automobile that comes speed- 
     
     ing half-way up the block. If you 
     
     are not yet convinced, just stand 
     
     for a. few moments on a. Sabbath 
     
     cutting on the corner adjacent to 
     
     Zion and St. Paul's churches while
