Mrs. Walter Wright cordially welcomed the members and visitors, to which Mrs. Scott Oalrns replied. Seventy-tihree members and five visitors responded to roll call. The presidnt welcomed Shamrock as a new group to join the conven- tion which now comprises 12 In- stltufca. A summarized report of the year's work done by the different branches was given by Mrs. Charles MacFarlane. Mrs. Chcar MacNeiil, Conway. convenor of Arts and Literature. gave a talk on A. C. W. W. Con- vention to be held in Toronto, She said that 60 of the delegates re- presenting various countries of the world will be paying a visit to P. E. 1. between Aug. 29-31. An excellent discussion on Unit- ed Nations was given by the mem- bers of Central Bedeque W. 1. un- der the chairmanship of Miss Louise Callbeck, who introduced the speakers after a. brief address on the purpose and subject matter. They disoimed in a. pl iical way the opportunities to contribute to UNEOOW goal iito build peace in the minds of men", and help in 8601111118 world peace. After the discussion several speakers from the audience voiced their opinions and a-resolution was drawn up ask- ing the Provincial executive to look into the matter and support an agricultural project in one of the needy provinces of India. A very lively sing-song conduct- ed by Mrs. Manning with Mrs Brewer Waugh at the piano was en- ioyed. Mrs. J. Herring, represent- ing the Festival Association spoke on the growth of same, since its beginning eight years ago, and of the need for the appointment of a Provincial Supervisor of Music.
