GOOD LAYERS.-At this time when eggs are at n premium. it will be of interest to state that the Maritime Orplngton Farm, Park St., City, has a pen of nine Bufl Orpington pullets, hatched May 17, that last week, (in 7 days) laid 48 eggs; most of them laying every day in the week. Two of the pullets have laid 16 days in suc- cession, and all of them have been laying over a mouth and a half. This goes to show what can he done with' poultry, when systematic .breeding and proper mating of the best layers is carried out.`The Buff Orpington is becoming a great favorite on the farm of late -and a good many ssales of these marvellous layers nre report- ed as having token place at the re- cent poultry show. Gorman arrived home last night from Boston where she has been taking a course in social and aesthetic dancing from Professor J_J_ Richards of Boston and Paris. Miss Gorman will open her school here after Jan 1. Henry Lawrence South- wick, President of Emmerson College of Oratory, Boston, intends visiting Miss Gorman's school here next year and while in the city will give sev- eral recitals under Miss Gorman's direction, Those taking up work with, Miss Gorman and intending to com-' plete the course for Professional tea-' chers’ diploma, will get full credit for such work taken under Miss Gorman here. Charlottetown is fortunate in ` having a person of Miss Gorman's created a very attractive scene. A pleasing little ceremony took place dllfipil one of the intervals, Miss. Mary Bartlett being presented with a beautiful bouquet in recognition of her valuable services during the Kir- mess, as sole accompanist. The bou- quet was the gift of the male mem- bers of the `Kirmcss caste and the presentation was made on their behalf hy' Mr. Lynwood,_who in doing so re- ferred to the fact th-at Miss Bartlett’s. skill with the pinnoforte played n material partin thesuccess of the Kirmess. The hall, though large, he said. was not large enough to con- tain the feelings of gratitude he had for the invaluable services so kindly rendered by Miss Bartlett in the diffi- cult position of accompanist, taking thef place as she had done of a whole orchestra.
