Ow Thursday, Jaddis White, a brakeman at Point Duchene, met with a severe accident while working on the shunting engine, He fell between the car and the side of the wharf, and was caught by the truck and dragged a short distance before the engine could be stepped. He had his shoulder blade broken, his thigh put out of joint, and received other injuries. The Zimes says : ‘‘ White was formerly a brakeman in the Moncton yard. It was reported here last evening that the man had died, but this is not cerrect, though the injuries received are very serious. He may not survive.” Rev. Bexnsamin Cuarre.t, A. The Globe of the 19th inst. devotes seven columns of space to a list and partial deserip- tion of the new buildings erectel. From this review welacn tiat during the past year there his been erected 61 brick buildings, at a cost ef 3586,800 ; and 103 wooden buildings at a cost cf $152,270. In the year ending June 19, 1873, there were erected a total of 352 brick buildings, at a cost of $3,456,200, and wooden buildings to the namber of 536, at a cost of $739,332. The two years thus give a total of 413 brick and stone buildings at a cost ; of $4,023,000, and 639 wooden buildings at a cost of $891,602. Besides, there have been built in the city, outside the burnt district in 1878-9, buildings valued at $100 000, and in 1877-8 buildings valued at $92,000.
