The amount standing tothe credit of depositors on the 39th of June was $41,819,656.10, an in- crease over the previous year of $2,320,- 103.49. The receipts from Dominion lands dur- ing the year were $285,596.07, ANNUAL COST OF THE DEBT. The rate of interest paid on the gross debt has steadily decreased since 1878, when it was 4.02 per cent. to 3.26 per cent., which is .04 less than last year, and the lowest point ever reached, except in 1884. The net rate of interest paid was 2.88 per cent., as against 2.93 per cent. last year. This is the lowest peint reached since 1886, when it was 2,86.
