THERE must have been upwards of three thousand people on the exhibition grounds yesterday afternonn to witness the trotting races. ‘The grand sand was packed, and the fence slong the track was lined with people. The greatest inter-st was taken in the races, and between heats, the Arullery Band ander the leadership of Mr. Worth rendered some choice selections in good style. Late in the afternoon the watering cart was sent over the track to settle the dust, which, in the early stages of the races blew abvut in clouds. THE THREE MINUTE CLASS was rung up & few minutes before two ‘o'clock. In the first heat Carroll’s Favor- ite hid an easy time of it, distancing the fild in 2383}—mighty fast time for a three-minute trotter. The conditions provided that any horse dis- tancing the ficld was entitied to first money only—the Gistanced horses having to trot off for second and third moneys. ‘Lhis was done, Balston taking first place and Fairy Queen secord.
