the residence of her son Henry, Susan
Midd1eton,relict of the late George Dixon,
Stanchel. For some months the stern
messenger had been slowly but surely
undermining the vigor obgher. constitution
and at last the silver cord was loosed, the
golden bowl broken the dust returned to
the earth as it was and the .spirit returned
unto God whogavc it,not. to bore-absorbed
into the Divine essence but as an indivi-
dual to join the white-robed throng and
t-o render praise to Him who had washed
her in His own precious blood. For her
death had been deprived of its sting. She
had, indeed, the desire to depart and he
with Christ. She was in the 69th year of
her age and leaves behind her three sons
and two daughter to mourn the loss of a
loving mother, Hem-v on the old
homestead, Lemuel in Boston, George in
Butte, Montana; Mrs, Morrill, South
Billerica Mass.,and Mrs Joseph:Campbell,
Searletown. The funeral services were
.conducted by Rev. D. McLean _assisted by
7 the Rev. Mr. Stewart, Bradalbane. To
the bereaved family we tender our sincere
sympathy remembering-

of our own country and the struggles it

what is dole elsewhere. General history
can also be attended to and is a most.

up. Hr. Pope concurred with what had
been said and thought that there should
be some way of preserving the
records- hy the society. This could be
accomplished by at union withthe Natural
1History Society. He accordingly moved

confer aboutthe formation [of u general
society. Mrs. (Dr.) Anderson thought
that organization .should precede
federation and accordingly moved a
resolution to that effect which was
seconded by Mrs. C. C. Gardiner. After
further discussion by Messrs. Brecken,
Palmer, Dr. Morrison and others the
following resolution was agreed to.
Resolved that this meeting organize
abranch of “The Canadian Historical
Society” to be united with the
Natural History and Antiquarian Scciety
as distinct- departments _o_f a general
society which shall becomposed of their
joint membership and which-`sh‘1llb:
known as the-_-and that a committee of
five. be appointed to confer with the
Executive of the Natural History and
Antiquarian Society and complete
arrangements for carrying this resolution
into effect. The following officers were
then appointed.

Tim concert given hy the Boys Brigifle
in the First Methodist Church last even-
ing was asuccess in every sense of the
word. The large audience that assembled
gave evidence to the very deep interest
taken in the Brigade movement among
the boys, and those present were fully
repaid by the entertainment provi-lcd
1 list evening. The drill exercises given
t by the boys under command of Capt.
\Vatts and hisoflicers Wellner and McKie
were admired by all and showed careful
training on the partof those in charge. The
musical part of the program was under
the able leadership of Prof. Watts which
s saying quite enough for its efllfeiency.
.L2int. McDonald was present and gave
ah interesting and instructive address to
'the boys, in which were many useful
hints and much valuable advice. He
assured them it was not the intention of l
those who started the movement among
thc boys to let it interfere with either
heir studies or their regular work. it was
intended tobe more incidental to both
and should make them work better and
study better. Rev. Leo Williams with his
readings and Mr. Barlow with his'
whistling soloevoked rounds of applause
in fact the concert from start to finish was
ofa high order there being not one dull
number in the program. During
intermission neat and pretty baskets of
candy were sold by the boys of the
brigade-. The ofijccrs ard boys of
Methodist Co. of Boys' Brigade wish not
tender their sincere thanks to all who in
any way assisted in making their
edtertainment the success it was. 1
