Orrawa, June & (4 p. m.) | <A bulletin issued by four doctors, includ- 'ding Dr. Roes, of Montreal, says that Sir Juhu is in an alarming state. His strength | has been gradually failing during the week. it shows a marked decline since yesterday. 'There is still a alight flickering of con- | sciousness. Respiration, 38; pulse, 120, | more irregular than before. Hia hours of | life are steadily waning. Orrawa, June 6 (10.35.) ‘Just waiting for death, which may oceur jatany moment, Sir John is unconscious | and takes no nourishment. Orrawa, June 6—1 p. m. The doctors, after comusultation, say that Sir John is rapidiy sinking, but may last tli four o'clock, Very few men have been more intimate with Sir John Macdonald for a great many | years than Dr. Sullivan, the Senator from Kingston. Frequently when visiting that city he stayed at Senator Sullivan’s house | on Princess street, and when triumphantly | returned at the polls in 1872 and 1873 it | was from the grounds in front of his house | that Sir John addressed the crowd, begin- ning as healmort invariably did with ‘— | ** Fellow electors, once mare I have been | returned for the vity of Kingston,” spoken | with a rising inflection. When the Premier | was taken ill at Kingston during the recent esmpaign, Dr. Suliivan attended him. As aresultof that examination Dr. Sullivan stated to-day that he was satisfied the Pre- mier had up to the last no organic disease. tle had not even what is known technically as atheroma, a disease which commonly occurs in the blood vessels of elderly people, and which renders the patient liable to paralysis and apoplexy and other atfectionr. He madea peculiar discovery. Sir John’s left pulse was feebler on one side than on the other. This caused the doctor some alarm, but the Premier told him Sir Charles Tupper had noticed it ten years ago, Senator Sullivan remembers Sir John Mac. donald’s mother, who was he says, a very superior woman. It is from her he believes the Premier got his talents. She had par- alysis and died many years ago Miss Mac- donald, his sister, who is also dead, was during her lifetime attended by Dr. Sullivan, She had symptoms just like those io the present case. He heart was week and she teared paralysis because her mother had been seized with it. She was given up on eight or ten different oceasions by the doctors, but lived toa ripe old age. ._The whole family ; bad extraodinary vitslity and recuperative powers, and were wonderfully relieved by res’. He never knew anyone whom rest would repair so quickly as members of this bamiy. DOMINION PARLIAMENT. Sir Charles Not Censored, Another Vote—Majority 31. Orrawa, June 6. The _ of love o’er her features played, The silver streaks through her b strayed, Her noble mien and her gentle hand Proclaimed her daughter of no mean laud. Voice and acticn attested her birth Better than mere gilt baubles of earth. Winter had folded its shroad and fled; The daisies peeped from their grasey bed. The dark mounds rose from their eircling green; Young plants smiled back to the bright’ning sheen, No wealth of splendor, yet choice as gold Those gifts from hands of the loved of old. Hands which will clasp my hands nevermore Till feet stand firm on the tideiess shore, Careless young Playful hai ope’d the gate; Hastening footsteps, that could not wait. Had sped where playtime and boyhood meet; The gate, forgot, awung ope from the street. From the highway where the cattle roam, And Arabs find their kindliest home. The gate might swing till the twilight hours; Meantime, alack for the tender flowers ! Came she, mid the many passers-by; Quick of the wit and cleer of the eye. She, of the high-bred, Christian school, Soul-lit and sunned of the golden rule. Questioned she whecher ! halted she long ! Qualia of propriety right no wrong. Yield form and ‘ashion their fitting place; Yet, cramp not the soul in meaner space. Hence to marauders, and riskings of fate, She quietly closed—theu latched the gate.
