Cruwys of Kingston, was presented with the following address, arcconipani- p ed by an elegant gold chain. The pres- 7 entation was made bv Miss Maud H nun-I ker, and Miss A. Mcliimion read the ADDRESS! To Miss Mabel E. Cruwys, Kingston: DEAR Tnkcnnn.-It is with pleasant feelings we have responded to your kind invitation to be present here this evening, and while here we desire to tender you 'success of all our concerts and socia s of the past winter. Therefore we beg _of you to accept the accompanying gift, not for its intrinsic value, but as a slight token of the love and gratitude we owe you; and pray that we may long enjoy your amiable and lady-like society, or at least until some happy manshall claim you for his bride. l We are, deer Mabel, Yours sincerely, ~. McKinnon. _ Kingston, June 7 th. Miss Cruvvys replied feelingly, as fol- ows. ~ _ MY DEAR PUPILS,-I am delighted to have you all here this evening. I have long contemplated this, and now that the glad time is arrived, my heart is filled vr ith joy. I thank you very much for your all too flattering address and for the beautiful gift which accompanies it; but I feel _ how very little I have done to merit the many kind things you have been pleased to say of me. It is very gratifying to me to know, however, that feeble as my eiorts may have been they have not been unappreciated. If you have made #any progress under my tuition, it has been due as much to your own hard study and patience as to my guidance; for unle pupil and teacher co-operate, even the best of instructors must fail. In this respect you have been model pupils. and if you continue as you have begun, yonwillin due time become performers that “need- eth not to be ashamed.” Do not be im- patient of results, for “we must build the ladder by which we rise.” - I can assure you that my work among you has at all times been most glleasant to me, and Ishall regret very mn when our present relation will cease, as sooner or later it must. But; while I shall then to have forego the pleasure of meeting you weekly,' as now, my interest inyou 'all shall continue unabated. In conclusion, I again thank you_ for thatI shall ever treasure them among ions.
