(AP)- For the fir;t time since midi August an unbroken curtain of water rushed over Niagara's Horse- shoe Falls Monday. U.S. Army engineers have re- moved most of a big diversion dike upstream from the fall! to let the Niagara river roar unhinderedovar the creslline. The enginees are engaged in a mammoth erosion control and beautification project at the falls. Before they began work last spring, water on the American side of the Horseshoe Falls trickled over in some spots and gushed over in others. After the diversion dike was built, about one-third of the crest- line was dry while comtruction men dug new channels upstream from the falls. commercial life of the community. The dental clinic sponsored by the Dental Division of the Depart- ment of Health and Welfare held at Dr. Reddin's Dental Parlor. Mt. Stewart on Monday. Dec. 13. was an outstanding success so say the Grade 1 kiddies of Savage Harbour who attended in force. There were no reports of anguish or suffering rather each of the little fellows was proudly displaying a beauti- ful picture which from a mere black and white outline he had turned into a work of art by the deft use of crayons. This very fine idea. which should be on the bal- lot for the ”thought of the year" award. found birth in the fertile mind of the Doctor's genial help- mate, Mrs. Reddin. She has build- ed better than she knew for those little fellows on their return visits early in the New Year who come with their minds filled with dreams of fanciful fun and the dreary drone of the drill for- gotten. , Mr. Cyril Morrison well-known carpenter of Savage Harbour. has been engaged for several days making necessary repairs to the fine property of Mr. Ernie Doyle. H is understood that auction has been taken so that an open air rink will be in operation at Mt. Stewart this winter. This is in- deed cheering news and it is to be hoped that with the return of the icy surface so too will come a hockey team that will again place this striving village high on the honor roll of sport centres on the island. Ml. Stewart has s proud history in the realm of sport. but of late years has sort of faded out of the picture. it is pleasing to note that the essentials for Q hoc- key comeback are being provid- ed.
