Never in the history of Charlotte- town was there such a scene on the streets as that in -connection with the( farewell parade of the 105th Overseas Highland Regiment yesterday after- noon. The parade was scheduled to leave the Armouries at 5 o’clock and long before the hour the streets were thronged with carrlagesand autos and the sidewalks lined with pedes- trians. Among the visitors were the parents of many of the boys from the country. Practically the whole City was on the streets while flags waved. from many buildings in honour of the lsiand’s first regiment. The whole battalion was massed in the vicinity of the Armouries and the boys and their friends had an opportunity for handshaklngs and_ good wishes of which many took advantage. To the disappointment of all, about six o’clock. it was. announced that the Carferry on which the Regiment was to embark -would not arrive until 10 o’clock. The boys were marched to their respective quarters and the crowds melted away. The steamer which left Charlottetown in the morn- ing was held up by n dense fog in the strait and did not reach Picton lili 4.40 p. m. making it impossible for her to return. She arrived in Char- lottetown at 11.30 and at one this morning the regiment was again mus- tered and paraded to the Marine Wharf. Notwithstanding the late hour a great many citizens turned out to repeat the good-hyes and good wishes of the afternoon, The Car- ferry with her precious freight on board and accompanied hy the fervent prayers of thousands left the wharf about three o’clock for Pictou where the boys will entrsin for Quebec and thence for Valcartier where, in all probability they will remain all sum- mer. Following are the names of the ofii- cers and men of the 105th Overseas Highland Regiment who have left for Valcartler.
