We have pleasure in stating that so large an assembly dispersed without any disturb- ance, after enabling its promoters to realize the handsome sum of $600, The directors of this beautiful hall will now be able to finish it in a first class manner and the community are to be congratulated on having in its midst such a fine public convenience. Nor must we forget that the beauty and kind- ness of the ladies aided in no small degree in attracting one of the largest gatherings that ever took place at Vernon River, and their devotion to the school was the chief factor in the great success of yesterday’s tea. AT EMERALD. The tea at Emerald was largely at- tended and thoroughly enjoyed. The great attraction was the match game of basebail between the ‘ Diamond” and ‘‘ Star” clubs, of Charlottetown, which was won by the latter. The play throughout was very good, not more than five runs being made in one innings. Mr. W. Reid, of Chicago, played first base for the ** Diamonds,” and gave ‘‘ our boys” some valuable pointers which they will likely make the most of. William Harrison: DeAR Sir,—Before severing your connec- tion with our church, we desire to express to you our high appreciation of your services during the three years of your pastorate with us. Your services in the pulpit, in the social ‘means of grace, and in private visitation ‘have been to us sources of much blessing. ‘The continued prosperity of the church under { your ministry here has been to us cause of ‘sincere gratitude, and we feel that in parting with you we part with an earnest Christian, @ -| faithful pastor, and a true friend. We trust that your contemplated trip may prove very beneficial to you; and that in your new field of labor God’s blessing may attend your efforts, and much good be accomplished. Please accept this small gift as a slight mark of the esteem in which you are held by those to whom you have ‘ ministered in holy things” during the past three years. We wish yourself and Mrs. Harrison and family the choicest of Heavens blessings.
